Ask the Pro10 Ambassador Stylist: Do Pro10 Hair Extensions Shed?

No Bad Hair Days Blog reader Rochama asks: I know a lot of people who have bought Soft Yaki Pro10 made with Ultima for hair weaves. They say the extensions not only shed, but that the ends turned real ugly when they were washed. Is this true?

Pro 10 Ambassador Stylist O’kela Neveaux says: When you think about it, even the most expensive weaves shed. Even your own natural hair sheds a bit of shedding with regular combing and brushing, no matter how well you have been caring for your hair.

How the ends of Pro10 extensions stand up to wear depends on how you choose to maintain your weave. Here are a few tips for caring for a Pro

And look up "Balmain" on the search box. You'll uncover MOAR! God I love them licensing deals. Pierre Cardin is dat chu?

Now you too my dear laydee friends can buy Balmain without breaking the bank.

Consider this as your queen-to-queen tip of the day.

Maintaining Your Hair Extensions

tension Maintenance is highly important, this will guarantee that you hair looks amazing and lasts! 1. Please do not wash your hair for 48 hours after the application of extensions. This allows your hair extension bonds to fully dry, creating a real strong and durable attachment between the Keratin and your hair.2. Always brush your hair prior to shampooing to avoid tangles. Brush your hair slowly and gently. You can use your fingers to press down on your extensions at the scalp for extra support3. Please only use the products I recommend during your consultation.

Using other products may cause your extensions to slide out.4. When conditioning your hair please only do so from the middle of your hair to the ends. Never condition your roots, this will cause the bonds loosen and fall out.5. Use of hair spray around the bonds is fine. For other products please ask!6. Never use any oils or silicone based products around the bonds such as

frizzezz, Paul Mitchell, super skinny or bio silk serum. They are great to use on the hair ends if you like but that’s about it! The oil in these products loosens and destroys the bonds.7. Never leave your hair wet in a towel for more than 10 minutes. Always dry your hair, you can use the blow dryer set on a low or medium heat setting or allow your hair to air dry loosely. Do not have your hair wet in a pony tail; this will prevent the hair from drying thoroughly.8. Never go to bed with wet hair. And always have your hair pulled into a loose pony tail or braid while sleeping. Please use a scrunchy and not a rubber band, as rubber bands tend to get tangled while moving around in your sleep.9. Use of a proper extension brush is needed. You can purchase a hair

extensions brush in Sally Beauty Supply in your area for under $10.10. All extensions are done with 100 percent human hair so the use of flat irons and curling irons are fine. Do not use any hot appliance on the bonds, stay at least 1-2 inches away from your roots with hot irons; they will cause your extension bonds to melt.11. When brushing your hair please be gentle. Remember that your hair is attached to the extensions. If you pull too hard this may result in the loss of extensions and your natural hair. Do not play with the extensions. Do not pull on them, twist them, or pick at them in any way. You will cause them to slide out. As I mentioned earlier you should brush slowly and gently and use your fingers as support to the extensions by holding them tightly against your scalp while brushing.12. Please do not leave any extensions in longer than the recommended time! It is best to take them out every 3-4 months and then freshly re-place them. 13. Do not colour or bleach the extensions!14. Please have your regrowth coloured by a professional who is used to working with extensions. Not all licensed professionals

work with extensions or know what they are doing. I personally have most of my clients go to an expert that I highly recommend or we can do it as our extensionist is an expert in this field also. 15. Daily shedding of some extension hair is normal and nothing to worry about.16. Losing between 10-30 bonds per month is normal and nothing to worry about, save any pieces that may slide out, many times those pieces can be re-used... 17. Do NOT have your hair blow-dried at a hair salon!! This only guarantees that your extensions will be pulled on and come out faster. I go over the instructions with you and teach you exactly how to style your hair so that your extensions last long and do not come out. PLEASE DO NOT HAVE YOUR HAIR BLOW-DRYED AT A SALON! You can have them curled or straight ironed only!

Amazing Makeovers: Hair Extensions

I don't know about you Gibson Girls, but I sure do love the look of extensions. That's why I'm so excited to bring you the third installment of my makeovers. Long hair never goes out of style, which is why I love playing with extensions. I was recently working with Debra Messing and I put in these really long extensions, which looked fabulous. It's nice to be able to do something different and have extra long hair. That's what's great about being a woman -- you can make these really amazing changes with the length or shape or color of your hair and be someone different for a day.

Both Rochelle and Trilby are wearing clip-on extensions from my new extension line that debuts on QVC at the end of this month. So you can definitely do these looks at home.

This involves taking small sections of natural or artificial hair and fusing it to your own hair through weaving, gluing, or heat fusion. These types of hair extensions can last for several months and are considered semi-permanent. In contrast, a more immediate option is to use clip-in hair extensions. Many of these can be applied simply on your own without the aid of a professional stylist. However, clip in extensions cannot be left in hair for an extended period of time.

Does Porn Cause Depression?

Over at 2blowhards, people have been strenuously debating whether porn is an art form akin to rock and roll, and whether we now accept porn as part of the internet experience.

Obviously, the first question is nonsensical. But the other question bothers me. Just now, I followed some fashion links to some new photos of Lindsay Lohan, topless. My first thought upon looking at her face was: This girl is spent. Literally. She’s been used up and she has nothing left to offer but her nude body for the purpose of porn.

The poor girl has been through everything, at such a young age! She looks like she’s at the brink of starvation, but since she still has tits, she’ll flaunt them. I find it very depressing.

Is it pornography to watch a young celebrity flame out and burn? Is Girls Gone Wild pornography? Are kids really posting nude photos of themselves on their mySpace pages? Is porn ever healthy? Is there anything we haven’t seen yet, or shouldn’t see?

When I first learned to use a computer, the girl I worked with immediately set out to show me some notorious video of a woman having sex with a donkey. I hoped she wouldn’t find it. She did show me a photo of an old lady using a dead fish for something….it wasn’t good, although it was somewhat shocking.

Another office, more searches for porn. My (female) boss and I laughed hysterically at photos of women with two cocks in their mouths. We went to massive cocks dot com and laughed some more.

That is really the totality of my experience with online porn. Is there something wrong with me?

I don’t think I’m prudish. I just don’t want to get depressed. Now I hear there’s a very popular website where people upload pictures of their own faces during orgasm. I don’t get why it’s popular! Why would I want to see what some stranger looks like when they come?

I’m wondering if the world is made up of exhibitionists and voyeurs. And of course a third group, where I fit in. I’m wondering if my problem is that I can’t look at porn without thinking about the motives involved. After I laughed at the girl with two cocks in her mouth, I thought about her mother.

Someone once showed me a website where you could look at women covered in shit. I was very upset and wanted to cry for weeks afterward. I know this is not an example of whatever’s considered mainstream or arty porn, but the whole new world of porn at our fingertips is distressing to me. Even more than distressing, it’s sad.

People who enjoy porn should at least have the decency to shut up about it. Insisting that it’s interesting on any other level is just a denial of its primary purpose. Waxing all intellectual about porn is just absurd, like Camille Paglia pontificating about Madonna.

I hope that young people will still be allowed some innocence about sexuality, so they can discover it with a real live person. Mystery and taboos are there to preserve the holy aspect of sex, and by holy I don’t mean to exclude any practices between two human beings of any gender. Speaking as an atheist, I still think of sex as a religious experience.

6, ENTER PROM HAIRSTYLES GALLERY

Along with all of the excitement a certain amount of anxiety always creeps in when teenagers are faced with their upcoming prom. For a girl, this may include wondering whether someone will ask them to go. For a boy, they may worry if the girl will say yes when asked. Yet after that is out of the way, most girls begin to concentrate on things such as prom gowns, prom shoes, how they will do their makeup and prom hairstyles. For the hairstyles, you will be able to find many different sources containing hints about the different styles available.

One nice thing about hairstyles is that along with the more traditional up-dos are new ones that are constantly being created as well. You should experiment with many different styles, some that you have tried before and perhaps some that you have always wanted to try but have never had an occasion to go all out.

Remember that formal prom gowns and short prom dresses will likely call for very different hairstyles, so don't decide on your hairdo until you have the dress. If you can't afford to have your hair coiffed professionally, then look online and in magazines for ideas and try to get someone to help you do your hair. You can always add a ribbon to your hair that is the same color as your dress.

There are several different prom hairstyles that begin with a simple ponytail; for example you can put your hair up in a high ponytail and pull several strands down around your face and neck. Perhaps you can even slightly curl the wisps of hair that you pull free from the style. Or, separate a ponytail into two sections and then twist each of the sections into random knots that are pinned to the back of your head, again pulling small wisps out.

Try putting your hair into a ponytail that starts at the midsection of your head and use ribbon that matches your prom gown to weave a crisscross effect into your hair. If you decide to wear your hair in a ponytail, then use large curlers in your hair to create curl and bounce and perhaps finish it with a shine spray. For a no fuss party do, simply pull hair into two equal pony tails, either high or low, and then knot the two sections together. Use bobby pins to secure or to hide any stray hairs you don't want. Don't forget that weaving flowers, real or silk, into your hair is a great way to enhance the style with a great feminine touch.

Don't feel left out of great prom hairstyles just because your hair is short. One very trendy look is hair stencils and they actually look better on shorter hair. You can choose one that is already made or design your own for a look that you know will be completely unique. This is something that you can do by yourself, but it is usually a little easier with help. Once you have decided on the design you can choose a color that matches your prom gown or simply use

Long layers help to keep the style looking sharp. Add highlights or lowlights to this style to help further draw your attention to facial features and soften the look, such as the eye areas.

9, Hottest Short Hair Styles

Short hair is very much in style today. Celebrities are going from long and curly to
short and sassy. Short hair is much easier to take care of and you will definitely be using less hair care products.

Styling time is cut in half sometimes when going from a long style to a short one. It all depends on your hair texture and how well you hair behaves. A proper hair cut will go a long way to keeping the style looking great.

Selma Blair recently cut off her long hair for this short and sassy hairstyle. Add definition and pieciness to this style by applying a small amount of pomade to the ends of the hair using your fingertips. Be careful not to apply too much as this can cause the hair to look greasy. Short hairstyles like Selma's are very popular today
